Abstract
Lebanon’s official exchange rate of 89.5 K Lebanese pounds (lcu) per USD in June 2024 highlights its severe currency devaluation in recent years. Lebanon’s economy has faced multiple crises since 2019, including political instability, inflation, and the 2020 Beirut port explosion. The Lebanese pound has lost over 90% of its value against the dollar in the black market, despite official rates being set much lower. This disparity reflects the lack of foreign reserves and the country’s reliance on informal markets. The ongoing crisis makes the official rate increasingly disconnected from real market values.
Official exchange rate (lcu/usd, period average)
Angola’s peak exchange rate of 2.18 million kwanza per USD in June 1995 reflects a period of extreme hyperinflation, largely driven by the civil war, political instability, and economic mismanagement. The country’s currency suffered drastic devaluation, reaching unprecedented lows. Since then, Angola has made efforts to stabilize its economy, implementing reforms and diversifying its oil-dependent economy. However, inflation and currency volatility have remained significant issues. As of 2024, Angola’s exchange rate at 39.6 million percent of its 1995 peak underscores persistent economic challenges and limited recovery in the currency’s strength.

The maximum is 2.18MLCU[1995年6月] of Angola, and the current value is about 39.6m%
Official exchange rate (lcu/usd, period average) (nations around the world)
Angola’s official exchange rate of 2.18 million kwanza per USD in June 1995 marks a peak during a period of severe hyperinflation caused by civil conflict and economic instability. Following the war’s end in 2002, Angola undertook economic reforms, focusing on stabilizing the currency and diversifying its oil-dependent economy. Despite these efforts, inflation and devaluation continued, and by 2024, the currency value had reached just 39.6 million percent of its 1995 peak. This reflects Angola’s ongoing struggles with inflation, external debt, and economic diversification challenges.

The maximum is 2.18MLCU[1995年6月] of Angola, and the current value is about 39.6m%
